The Center for the Neurobiology of Learning and Memory is pleased to host the 2023 Irvine Brain Bee, a day-long celebration of brain science at UC Irvine. The Irvine Brain Bee inspires Orange County high school students to learn about the brain and engage with university students and professors. I encourage you to read about the 2022 Irvine Brain Bee which was held in March of this year here.

The 2023 Irvine Brain Bee Competition will take place on January 28, 2023 on the UC Irvine campus. In addition to the competition itself, the day will feature neuroscience demonstrations, hands-on workshops, dissections as well opportunities to learn about neuroscience careers. The competition is 100% free for students. Participants will receive an event shirt, prizes and lunch.

The winner of the Irvine Brain Bee will advance to participate in the USA Brain Bee which will be hosted in April right here at UC Irvine. The USA Brain Bee will bring together the winners of dozens of regional Brain Bee chapters. The winner of the USA Brain Bee will then advance to compete in the World Championship during the summer.

All high school students, regardless of prior neuroscience knowledge, are encouraged to participate in this fun day. Remember that the day is more than the test and competition! It is an opportunity for you to spend the day exploring the brain and meeting neuroscientists!
