SUMMARY:How addiction hijacks the brain: what animal models can tell us about the neurobiology of drugs of abuse
DESCRIPTION:Research using animal models has begun to shed light on how drugs of abuse and addiction impact brain and behavior. But what can these models tell us about the mechanisms of addiction in humans\, and what is the current state of the science regarding clinical support for drug use disorders? Join the CNLM Ambassadors for a virtual panel discussion featuring four UCI experts\, Dr. Christie Fowler\, Associate Professor in the Department of Neurobiology and Behavior\, Dr. Ariana Nelson\, Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Care\, Dr. Jessica Childs\, Postdoctoral Scholar in the Department of Neurobiology and Mitchell Farrell\, Ph.D. Candidate\, studying how drug use changes neural circuitry underlying learning\, memory\, and future drug-seeking behaviors. \nFor more information\, please visit: https://cnlm.uci.edu/ambassadors/ \nRSVP TODAY
