Dr. DeSilva is an Associate Professor at the Lerner Research Institute, Cleveland, Ohio where her research focuses on how immune cell infiltration into the central nervous system contributes to demyelinating diseases such as multiple sclerosis (MS), transverse myelitis, and neuromyelitis optica (NMO).
The DeSilva lab focuses on three major areas of research:
1) Blocking immune cell infiltration into the CNS
2) Protecting the CNS during the onslaught of immune cell infiltration
3) Promoting regeneration of myelin in the CNS
