The National Science Foundation Directorate for Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences (SBE) offers Postdoctoral Research Fellowships (SPRF) to support early-career scientists in research and training.

This fellowship allows postdocs to gain research training under a faculty mentor and develop an interdisciplinary line of research. Examples of research areas include research to develop and advance scientific knowledge on human behavior, human cognition, language, social and organizational behavior and culture as well as research on the interactions between human societies and the physical environment. It is important to remember that NSF fundsbasic science research.

The SPRF program offers two tracks for fellows:

Track 1: Fundamental Research in the SBE Sciences – to support research that builds fundamental knowledge of human behavior, interaction, social and economic systems, organizations and institutions

Track 2: Broadening Participation in the SBE Sciences – to prepare underrepresented SBE scientists and others who share NSF’s diversity goals for positions of scientific leadership in academia, industry, and government

Budget: $54,000/year in stipend; $15,000/year in research and training allowance

Note: This fellowship is awarded directly to the applicant, not through UCI. Postdocs apply to this fellowship directly, not through UCI’s Sponsored Projects.

Deadline: November 1, 2021 at 5 PM local time
